Madras and Margarita (2 for 1)
When we go to the beach, we generally indulge in cocktails. At home, I’m more of a wine drinker, but when sun, surf, and sand are involved, I want something a bit more refreshing…so, of course a good margarita is in order. I love my husband’s version, so that’s this week’s drink recipe.
And because those beach towns function on 2 for 1drink specials, I’ve included another grown-up thirst quencher. This one is for the Madras…a delicious cocktail that combines ingredients you likely already have stocked in your vacay fridge…
A million thanks to my Madras testers…my mom and the Lindas who enjoyed the drink while on their girlfriend getaway!
Madras
Ingredients
• 1 1/2 oz vodka
• 4 oz cranberry juice
• 1 oz orange juice
• 1 lime wedge
Preparation
Pour all ingredients (except lime wedge) into a highball glass over ice. Add the lime wedge and serve.
My Man’s Margarita
Ingredients
• 12 oz Minute Maid frozen Limeade concentrate
• Tequila (I like the taste of silver tequila best and if you can swing for silver Patron, it’s totally worth it).
• Triple Sec or orange juice
• Course salt
• Lime wedges
Tools
Blender
Preparation
The ratio on this is super easy (no true measuring involved, like any good vacation recipe). Put the frozen Limeade in blender – use the empty container to measure and fill with tequila just until where the black part of the container stops – that’s your line…fill the rest up with triple sec or OJ. Add a handful of ice or two and blend (a good variation is to add a beer as well – a flavored one like citrus or lime is perfect). Rub rim of glass with lime – press rim into salt spread out on a plate. Pour drink – garnish with lime. Good times.
